Tired of poor results?
In this webinar Jane and Phil will show you how to find your voice and stand out online.

Finding your voice is not about becoming a blabbermouth online; it's about saying things to people the way you usually talk so your message stands out.
Today is the final event of the Triple Crown in horse racing, The Belmont Stakes in New York. By the end of this webinar, I want to give you enough information so that you make some dough to put down a bet on your favorite horse.

At the end of the webinar, I will tell you how I make bets, so I never lose, and it will give you a good laugh.

We also have a great bonus that I will announce at the end of the webinar.

So, let's get started.
Without your voice, it is challenging to run a successful business online.

Many roads can get you to success.

They all involve finding your voice by using several tried-and-true elements when you promote.
But before we start, I'd like to do a short exercise with you.
I want you to think of one of your favorite sites that you promote and write down three things you like about that site.

There are no right or wrong answers. I want to get you thinking.

Let's hear what you wrote down.

Pop it into the chat box where Phil is monitoring it.

It is so important to tell people in a few short sentences why you are promoting the site you are promoting.

We will have more to say about that in a few minutes.

First, I want to ask you a question, so you begin thinking about how you market.
Question: Since online marketing is not a face-to-face endeavor most of the time, can you name a couple of things that might help you stand out from the crowd?
There are no right or wrong answers - just throw out some ideas in the chat room.
Answer: Branding, humor, storytelling, blogging, adding logos or banners or emojis to your emails or blogs, and having your own writing style.
Let's talk about branding.
Branding is one of the most important things you can do. Here are some simple ways to brand yourself online.

1. Your Name:

Please ensure you always sign your full name in an email or blog you send out online.

People want to know with whom they are dealing. You want to make people feel comfortable as quickly as you can. Let them know they are dealing with a human being, not some mysterious, spooky character.

Make sure you give your name to your target audience every time you go public online. You can't build a successful business online if you are invisible.
Also, consider ending your emails and messages with a tagline after your name. Something that sets you apart from others.

Your tagline might be something as simple as,

adding the word Cheers! before your name.

or perhaps something like,

Joe Jones
Need help? Count on me.

or
Phil Basten
The Ad Man

My way of signing off is,

Go get um

I spelled UM wrong intentionally, and I will tell you why I did that in a moment.

Jane

Jane Mark
JAM Inc.

JAM Inc. is an abbreviation of the site I am promoting, JAM Marketing Inc.

So why did I spell the word um and not 'em?

I wrote it as, um, because when the internet was young, and Phil and I came on the scene, some people loved what we were doing and wanted to imitate us. The way they did that was to sign my name to an email that I never sent.

It drove me crazy because most times, they were promoting a piece of junk that I would never promote, so,

I came up with the idea of getting people used to seeing my signature with the misspelled um in it.

In other words, think of something you want to be known for and incorporate it into your signature line.

Make it the same each time you mail, so people get used to your signature and know it is you.
2.  Do not use canned ads when you email your offers.
A. It's too dark to read ads when they are in a can.

Remember I said you can use humor to brand yourself. You can blame my partner Phil for this one.

B. Canned ads do not tell people who you are.

Most sites online provide you with banners, text ads, and solo ads that you can use when you promote. You can use the banners and text ads as they are but, solo ads are a horse of a different color.

Solo Ads that the site you are promoting provides should only be used to give you bullet points about the main benefits of the site and what it does. Your solo ads should be based on your own experience with the site.

Think about it this way.
1. Why did you join the site?
2. What was the most important thing about the site that made you want to know more?
3. In your emails and other marketing, let people know about your OWN experience with the site and why it is worth their time to join under you.
4. Offer your reader something different instead of canned platitudes.
5. Use your own voice and words, not someone else's.
Let's stop for a moment to explore number 4 on the list.
  • A free giveaway is always good but today it's not enough.

  • The most valuable thing you can offer is your help, mainly when people don't know you from a bar of soap, so Somewhere in your emails, your reader gets the idea that you are willing to help them succeed.

  • The most valuable asset Phil and I have is that we answer members' emails promptly when people need help. We are well-known for this level of service.

  • We have help desks on our sites which make it easy for our clients, but you may notice at the end of every webinar we give, we share our email address so people can contact us directly. Don't hide your email address, or people may wonder why?

  • Don't hide your email address, or people may wonder why? And don't be afraid to put your email address in a promo you are doing, especially if you don't have a support desk. People don't bite; they will get to know and trust you if they can easily communicate with you.

  • If you don't know the answer to a question about a site that is not your own, direct them to the owner of the site, but just knowing you are there to help them will make it much more likely that they follow your advice and join sites that you offer them if they know, like and trust you.

  • Communicating directly with people is the ultimate weapon you have in making sales, so make sure you use it.
3. Add something unique to your emails, blogs, and other marketing.
If you look at some of our sites like Sokule or Profit from Free Ads, you will find that you can set up a blog and generate links so people can read your blogs. At the top of the blog is a way for you to stand out from the crowd.
Take a look at these blogs that I set up.
Here is how the top of my blog posts at Sokule look.

Note the top? It's hard to miss.

Think Bigger - Reach Higher - Grow Richer.

Again, your blog banner can get the idea across to people quickly. Make it count.

Take a look at the top banner.

In the beginning, we got well-known for our hilarious online radio show; Joe Yes Mable Are We Rich Yet?

We still use that branding on our blog even though we have been online for 21 years.
4. If you want to make it online follow the ABCs of Marketing.
  • A. Brand yourself.

  • B. Help others. It will come back to you tenfold. It's the theory of reciprocity or doing for others what you want them to do for you.

  • Add something unique to your emails or blogs that people will remember and always create mystery around your links.
These are the ABCs of Marketing.

Follow them and you can't go wrong.

Ignore them at your own Peril.
Bottomline.
If you want to Walk Away Richer and find your own voice you need to do these things.
